San Clemente's Mike Losness began his surfing career like a lot of young, aspiring pros: slugging it out on the WQS. But hardly a one-dimensional player, Losness's interest in art soon overtook his desire to chase ratings points, so he put down the contest jersey, picked up a paintbrush. This winter Lonsness was the man behind all of the art for the Reef Hawaiian Pro at Haleiwa, but it would appear he's just getting started. We caught up with him at his home studio to get his take on the career shift.
