No, don't worry, you're not on the ESPN Skate Page. You're in the right spot. Over the last year or so, there's been some public controversy surrounding why surfers make up names for moves that there are already names for. Yes, surfing did spawn skateboarding and snowboarding, but with these other boardsport disciplines, the names of moves and airs are pretty much interchangeable.
Take the McTwist, which is essentially a backside 540, named for Mike McGill. When snowboarders started busting them out, they didn't call them "whirlybirds" or something. They called it a McTwist. Surfers have been known to come up with names when all they had to do was ask a snowboarder. Hopefully when Ry Craike does one someday, he will just be happy to refer to it as a McTwist.
You see where I'm going with this?
Aussie Matt Wilkinson recently nailed this air-reverse "somewhere" in Indo, on a Rip Curl Search trip. Looks a lot like a handplant!
Perhaps the the coping on this Indo "miniramp" couldn't really hold enough of his weight to really be a legit handplant, but we'll give it to him for not calling it a "clownslap" or something like that.
