Someday they may rename the U.S. Open in honor of three-time winner Machado. He's been a fixture on the lefts coming down the beach forever. "I think last year was a good example of what the U.S. Open can actually be," he says. "Combining waves, the world's best surfers and that crazy crowd puts competitive surfing on a whole different level. When you're competing at Huntington, you feel like you're surfing in the Super Bowl." Back again by popular demand, courtesy of the WPS All-Stars, Machado will be cruising through the dust and drum circles to ride a few waves and do his thing. (Jason Kenworthy)
