Kolohe Andino

Kolohe Andino is what you might call the face of the new generation. Supported by coaches, managers, trainers and other various handlers, the top youth of today have a network of people in place to both help them obtain their goals and manage their affairs. "This didn't exist 10 or 15 or 20 years ago," told longtime U.S. Open veteran Rob Machado. "Back then kids were sent out into the world, earning a little bit of money, and you just kind of had to figure it out and fend for yourself. But the support that's out there for today's young surfers, it's really allowing them to succeed and push both their surfing as individuals and the direction of the sport." With stand-out performances in both the Pro Junior and the Men's divisions, Andino demonstrated that the future may soon be upon us. (Jason Kenworthy)
