2010 Pico Alto Invitational

The Pico Alto Invitational marked the second stop on the emerging Big Wave World Tour. Held in Punta Hermosa, Peru, the contest drew big-wave riders from around the world, as well as captured the imagination of the homegrown talent. The day started off relatively small and sedate, but as the forecast called for, the swell built through the day and peaked right around the time the final took the water. With 20-foot walls of water to compete on, it was a hard-fought affair, and in the end it was Oahu's Jamie Sterling that soaked in the biggest victory of his career. Needless to say, the typically quiet beach town errupted into a full-blown fiesta afterwards. "I'm living the dream," was Sterling summary of the day's events. (Jason Murray/Aquatech)
