Huntington Beach Police officers have had their hands full during the U.S. Open of Surfing at the Huntington Beach Pier. 26 arrests were made within five hours on August 4 near the competition site.

"We didn't have a riot or anything, there were just (several) people at the beach," Lt. Brian Tidrick said to the Orange County Register.

Most arrests were labeled 'pedestrian checks' and the incidents resulted in warnings. There is a record of at least one misdemeanor.

Police expect the crowds to grow as the competition concludes this weekend.
