"X Games 3D: The Movie" will be featured as part of an upcoming 3D Film Festival in Canada, the film's first release in that country. The festival, called "It Came From the Third Dimension," will showcase 17 films in two locations in British Columbia from October 8-16. The X Games film will be featured on opening night at the Royal Theatre in Trail, BC, and will play again at Revelstoke's Roxy Theatre later in the week.
The X Games 3D movie, which was directed by Steve Lawrence, originally premiered in July 2009 at Los Angeles' Nokia Theater, and then opened in theaters across the U.S. last August. It's narrated by actor Emile Hirsch and it features action sports athletes like Bob Burnquist, Danny Way, Ricky Carmichael, Kyle Loza, Travis Pastrana, Sarah Burke and others.

Skateboarder Bob Burnquist was on hand during the film's premiere last summer. "It really does feel like you're in it," said Burnquist. "It makes you part of the action. There's so much information to take in, it's like sensory overload. Maybe all someone sees each year of us is X Games. This goes beyond that; it gives people more understanding of what we do and shows the bonds that are created between us."
Canadians will get their first chance to be a part of the action during the 3D Film Festival in October. Besides the X Games film, other feature films at the festival include "Avatar," "Call of the Wild 3D," "Resident Evil: Afterlife," "Despicable Me," "Toy Story 3," "Alice in Wonderland," "U2 3D," "Kenny Chesney 3D," "My Bloody Valentine," "Piranha," "How To Train Your Dragon," "Step Up 3D," "Legends of GaHoole," "Alpha and Omega" and "Clash of the Titians."
There are less than 30 3D digital cinemas in British Columbia, and Trail's Royal Theatre and Revelstoke's Roxy Theater are being transformed to accommodate the three-dimensional format. The festival ends by replaying all 17 films back-to-back on the final night for the world's first 24 hours of 3D. Tickets are on sale now at Royal Theatre or Roxy Theatre.
