Memorable Moment 12: McRae Rolls a Rally Car

A legend on the World Rally Championship circuit, the 38-year-old McRae had more rally experience in his glove compartment than the rest of the inaugural X Games Rally field combined. His competitors were so in awe of the Scotsman, it was his event to lose even before he got there--and lose he did. Carrying a near-insurmountable lead over the final jump of the Super Special, McRae lost a tire on the landing and rolled the car in one of the most spectacular crashes in X Games history. He was just yards from the line and managed to finish, all but handing Travis Pastrana his first of two Rally golds. Tags: Actionsports, Rally Racing
