Memorable Moment 5: Mat Hoffman No-Handed 900
Prior to X Games 8, Hoffman had been retired from competition for a full year. By his own admission, he wasn't really there to compete; after his ended his first run with plenty of time on the clock it appeared that he wouldn't challenge an on-fire Dave Mirra for gold. Then he shocked the BMX world by uncorking the first-ever no-handed 900 on his second run. The one trick wasn't enough to overtake Mirra, but the gold medal-winner nevertheless bowed to Hoffman on the podium. "We've all imagined it," said Mirra, "but imagining it and doing it is a whole different world."Tags: Actionsports, Bmx
