NAZARETH, Pa. -- Dennis Setzer, racing with a broken right shoulder blade, held off Joe Ruttman by 2.057 seconds Saturday in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series' Chevy Silverado 200.
Setzer, who ended a nearly yearlong victory drought with his fifth series win, used track position to edge Ruttman on Nazareth Speedway's unique mile tri-oval.
"Track position is important here," Setzer said. "You can keep someone behind you for three or four laps."
He was injured last week in a wreck at New Hampshire International Speedway.
"I still have got big bruises and I can't scratch the top of my head," Setzer said "You work all your life to race so I won't cry about these injuries."
Setzer, who started 19th, pushed his Dodge to the front on the 161st lap. After exchanging the position with Steve Grissom following the ninth caution on lap 181, Setzer led the final 20 laps.
Ruttman, also driving a Dodge, pitted for tires on lap 165 when Wayne Anderson's Chevrolet hit the wall in Turn 1. Ruttman returned to the track in ninth place, cleared Greg Biffle's Ford for second on lap 195, but didn't have enough time to catch Setzer.
Setzer averaged 93.083 mph and won $49,735, making him the 14th driver to win more than $1 million on the series.
Biffle finished third for a series-record 10th consecutive top-five finish. He also added to his points lead, which reached a season-high 178 over Mike Wallace.
Grissom was fourth in another Dodge, followed by Jack Sprague's Chevrolet. Terry Cook, Jimmy Hensley, Rick Carelli, Bryan Reffner and Wallace completed the top 10. | |
