Ray might have suffered concussion

MIAMI -- Indy Racing League driver Greg Ray was injured in a testing accident at Homestead-Miami Speedway on Monday.

Ray, the 1999 IRL champion who lives in Plano, Texas, was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami. Dr. Henry Bock, the IRL's director of medical services, said Ray had signs of a mild concussion. Ray was reported awake and alert in good condition.

The crash occurred in the fourth turn of the 1½-mile oval. The left side of Ray's car made contact with the outside wall. Ray climbed from the car on his own.

Ray had run approximately 40 laps in windy conditions.
