First-year Florida State football coach Jimbo Fisher along with Christian Ponder, Ochuko Jenije, Bert Reed and Lonnie Pryor will appear on the main stage of Seminole Get Down to kick off the festivities for Saturday’s spring game.

The spring game will mark the first real chance fans will get to see Mark Stoops’ revamped 4-3 defense. The defense allowed 30 points per game last season, but the entire spring has been spent installing multiple looks and zone coverage to keep teams off-guard and out of the end zone.

The first-team defense has played well during the Seminoles first two scrimmages. Last week, Greg Reid had four interceptions off backup quarterbacks Clint Trickett and Will Secord.

The Seminoles enter their spring game just a couple days after Fisher expressed his disgust in both the offense and the defense during the team’s final practice.

"They weren’t worth a flip on either side,” Fisher told media after the practice. “We’re back to the same old routine… I’m very disappointed. Sometimes a leopard don’t change his spots. So, we’ll see. Have to wait until next fall to find out.”

But Florida State has a chance to redeem itself Saturday, at least in the eyes of its fans.

Quarterback Christian Ponder will be making his first real on-field appearance since suffering a shoulder injury in November. Ponder has said that he doesn’t feel like he’s 100 percent yet, but in the Seminoles previous scrimmages, he’s completed 12-of-23 passes for 279 yards.

Fisher is hoping that what fans see on Saturday is not his team’s finished product because he believes the Seminoles are a long way from being where they need to be to compete in the fall.
