ESPN.com's Mel Kiper recently released his first 2011 Big Board
, and there are plenty of Tar Heels represented.
That's good for North Carolina this season, but a scary thought for next year. It's going to be a challenge for coach Butch Davis to get some backups experience this year with so much NFL talent in front of them.
One of the questions that keeps popping up on the chats and in my mailbag is which team will be hit hardest by the draft next year, and Carolina is the first team that comes to mind. All the more reason to make the most out of that defense this year. Here's how the ACC fared in Kiper's first Big Board:
No. 3 UNC DE Robert Quinn
No. 8 BC OT Anthony Castonzo
No. 13 UNC DT Marvin Austin
No. 15 VT RB Ryan Williams
No. 16 Miami DE Allen Bailey
No. 18 UNC LB Bruce Carter
No. 21 Virginia CB Ras-I Dowling
The one name that should be an attention-grabber on here is Virginia Tech's Williams. Hokies' fans should relish this season with Williams, because if he's a top draft pick, running backs coach Billy Hite will be one of the first people urging Williams to go.
