Maryland has put an emphasis on speed in this recruiting class, and it could pay dividends, writes Jamie Newberg of ESPN Recruiting. Newberg says this could be one of the best classes in the Ralph Friedgen era, but is that era coming to an end?

The Terps have received 12 commitments so far, and they're filling needs such as on the offensive line, but you have to wonder how many prospective athletes and their parents are asking about Friedgen's job security. If they're not, they should be. Will they be signing up to play for Friedgen? For head-coach-in-waiting James Franklin? Or for a fresh face? All questions nobody can answer right now. The irony of the situation is that the head-coach-in-waiting plan was designed specifically so Friedgen and his staff could avoid such uncertainty on the recruiting trails.

Regardless, Maryland fans should be pleased with the talent this staff is luring in, thanks in large part to Franklin, the best recruiter on staff. The question is whether or not he'll also be the one to develop it.
