UM's Nix contacted by Auburn

Miami offensive coordinator Patrick Nix has been contacted by Auburn, the Miami Herald reported.
Considering the volume of notes I've gotten from Miami fans expressing their disdain for Nix, it's probably safe to say many of them were thrilled by this news. And considering Nix's playing background at Auburn, he'd probably take it if it were offered.
But would Auburn really be getting an upgrade? Probably not.
Miami's offense ranks 88th of 119 FBS teams in total offense with 327 yards a game. That's a slight improvement from last season, when the Canes ranked 110th in total offense and 101st in scoring offense in Nix's first season.
It's not exactly a resume that screams, 'hire me."
My defense of Nix has been that he had a young, inexperienced quarterback surrounded by young, inexperienced playmakers and that limited what he could do. I was at the Virginia Tech game and saw the receivers drop a few balls. I was at the Georgia Tech game, and when the defense plays like that, it puts a lot of pressure of the offense to score quickly.
Randy Shannon took that defense away from me, though, when I asked him this season if he thought the youth on his team limited some of the play calling and he said no.
Miami's roster is loaded with young, offensive talent. It doesn't matter, though, if they're not put in a position to use it.
