It's almost time for practice to get started. Almost ...
  • Georgia Tech begins its defense of the ACC title on Thursday, and the focus will be on the defense. After all, the Jackets are trying to model themselves after the Pittsburgh Steelers this year. To that I say, "yins'll love it."
  • Clemson coach Dabo Swinney is trying to keep everything in perspective, despite his larger paycheck.
  • Even some of the ACC's biggest rivals are rooting for each other in their big nonconference matchups this year.
  • The NCAA investigation into North Carolina's football program has not damaged Butch Davis' reputation for running a clean program. That might depend upon whom you ask.
  • Things just weren't the same at ACC media days without former Florida State coach Bobby Bowden.
  • Miami athletic director Kirby Hocutt was all smiles at this year's CanesFest.
  • Virginia Tech coach Frank Beamer says he's got the best quarterback in the league.
  • There might not be two players more excited about returning to the field this fall than BC linebacker Mark Herzlich and NC State linebacker Nate Irving.
