Clemson had 12 players sign Letters of Intent today, but could still be in the mix for one more -- Bryce Brown. Apparently, Miami and Oregon aren't the only schools still on his short list. The Tigers are also hoping for a late commitment from the No. 2-ranked running back in the country. If they do, it would obviously be a huge boost for this small class, especially considering highly touted linebacker Eric Fields didn't sign today for academic reasons.

One player Clemson signed this afternoon who isn't listed on our site is tight end/defensive end Darrell Smith. He was recruited out of Alabama by Charlie Harbison, and chose Clemson over Troy.

The only immediate need for this class was at safety, and Clemson added Jonathan Meeks, who has good size and speed and is best suited for strong safety, according to Scouts Inc. Quarterback Tajh Boyd is the best prospect in the class and erased any doubts about his commitment today, but look for defensive end Malliciah Goodman to have an immediate impact.

Overall, Clemson's staff did a good job of rebounding from the mid-season staff change, as they lured four members from the ESPN 150 list. This year's class is about quality, not quantity for the Tigers, and it was an impressive effort by Billy Napier in his last year as recruiting coordinator before trading that title for offensive coordinator.
