Greetings from Miami

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. -- This is the way football should be at Miami. Bad traffic. Great tailgating. Lots of trash talkin'.

This is the first time I've been to this stadium where it's actually felt like a big-time college football game (Orange Bowls excluded). The pro venue doesn't usually suit college football, but this is Florida State and Miami -- a tradition-rich rivalry with passionate fans. It could be played in your local high school stadium and would still be as exciting.

The traffic from the Florida Turnpike into the stadium was pure gridlock. Many fans had gotten out of their cars and into their coolers on the side of the road. Horns were honking. People were yelling. A few buses of Florida State fans drove by doing their Tomahawk Chop and Miami fans were standing outside their cars at a red light yelling at them and giving them the thumbs down.

This is the first time both teams are ranked since 2006, and it's definitely got that excitement to it. Let's hope it delivers.
