Maryland to take on Penn State for a good cause
Posted by ESPN.com's Heather Dinich
The relationship between Penn State fans and Maryland fans has always been ... interesting. The Nittany Lions don't seem to give much thought to the Terps, but Maryland fans (at least on the message boards) seem to take shots at the Nits whenever they can.

The two programs haven't played each other since 1993. That's probably because Penn State owns a 35-1-1 record against Maryland. That's also probably why Maryland fans are a wee bit touchy when PSU (which they like to call UPS) plucks a recruit from its neighboring state.
This weekend, the Terps will have a chance to get even, and support a worthy cause in the process.
In recognition of Global Rare Disease Day on Saturday, the Maryland football chapter of Uplifting Athletes will host and participate in a video game tournament, and all of the proceeds will benefit Cystic Fibrosis, a rare disease typically affecting children.
The Penn State football players will be hosting the same event, and the winners will face off in a live online competition. Each team is comprised of 16 athletes.
The event will be held from 2-6 p.m. at the Varsity Grille in College Park, Md. (8424 Baltimore Avenue). Ticket prices are $10 for adults and $5 for students, and may be purchased in advance by making a donation at upliftingathletes.org. Tickets can also be purchased at the door and will be sold on a first-come, first-serve basis.
