North Carolina coach Butch Davis said the NCAA review is "almost totally wound down," but that he and his staff have still had to diffuse some rumors being told to his recruits by the competition.
"I think that a lot of our recruits are very frustrated with the amount of misinformation and things that people are saying that absolutely have zero credibility," Davis said.
Davis said that the investigations into academic misconduct or athletes receiving improper benefits or having improper contact with agents has not deterred his recruits from trusting the program is still heading in a positive direction.
"Certainly the academic credibility of this institution is still a tremendous school," Davis said. "It has been and it always will provide kids with a great college education and great experience. ... The players that we're recruiting not only for 2011, but kids we're recruiting for '12 and '13, they recognize the commitment by the University of North Carolina with the state of expansion project, coaching staff, and it's something they're excited about the future of the program."
