This just in from Clemson's sports information department:
Clemson senior wide receiver Jacoby Ford has a strained hamstring and is expected to be ready for the season opener against Middle Tennessee on September 5.
Ford suffered the injury during the finals of the 100 meters at the NCAA Track and Field Championships in Fayetteville, Ark., last Friday. He will rehab the injury throughout the summer.
Ford had 55 receptions for 710 yards and four touchdowns last year. He ranked second on the Tigers team in receptions and reception yards behind Aaron Kelly. He had five receptions for a career high 112 yards and a touchdown against Nebraska in the Konica Minolta Gator Bowl.
He has 87 career receptions for 1207 yards and 10 touchdowns. He was named a 2009 preseason first-team All-ACC candidate by Athlon and Phil Steele publications earlier this month.
Ford is a five-time All-American in track at Clemson. He won the NCAA Championship in the 60 meters during the indoor season and earned All-America honors in the 4X100 meter relay team and the 100 meters outdoors.
Redshirt freshman running back Andre Ellington had knee surgery last Friday to repair a torn cartilage. He is also expected to be back for the season opener. He red-shirted last season as a running back. The native of Moncks Corner, SC was ranked as the number-44 player in the nation by ESPN.com in February of 2008 and played in the ESPN/Under Armour All-American game. He rushed for 1,822 yards and 24 touchdowns as a senior at Berkeley High School.
