Miami linebacker Ramon Buchanan is suspended indefinitely, according to a school spokesman.
The Palm Beach Post reported that Buchanan was charged with felony battery on a police officer.
"We are aware of Ramon's situation and we are disappointed," coach Al Golden said in a prepared statement. "This is out of character for a young man who has been a positive influence in our program. He is contrite and apologetic for the situation and is currently taking the appropriate actions towards resolution. UM’s track record in the community has been very positive and we will continue in our pursuit of the highest standards."
Golden will likely address this situation and the other reported suspensions at practice later Tuesday, but don't expect full disclosure now or in the future with him. He's a keep-it-in-the-locker-room kind of coach. An updated depth chart is expected early this morning, though.
Buchanan started 10 of 13 games last year and was fifth on the team in tackles with 54. He also had eight tackles for loss.
