Checking in with NC State's Ted Larsen

NC State center Ted Larsen said his move from defensive tackle has been a "huge learning process," but both he and the Wolfpack are likely to benefit from it.

Larsen, a redshirt junior, has spent most of his career as a backup tackle, but his new role on the offensive line will give him a chance to start and help NC State. John Bedics, a redshirt senior who had starting experience at left defensive tackle, also made the move this spring and is taking reps with the first team at offensive guard.

"I definitely feel like it's benefited the offensive line," Larsen said. "Me and John bring a lot of athleticism, and some speed and quickness that can definitely help out the line and some of the backs we have. We also bring a certain amount of leadership ... we've played in some big games. It helps bring everyone together."

Larsen said that despite some naysayers outside the program who say the Wolfpack have too many questions to contend for the ACC title this season, NC State has a good group of leaders who are "tired of mediocre seasons," and that everyone is buying into Tom O'Brien's philosophies.

"We've been working really hard over the spring and summer," Larsen said. "What you guys can expect is some more excitement compared to last year, and the will to win some tough games."
