How the ACC stacks up

As we head into Week 4, which features seven more nonconference games, the ACC has a winning percentage of 73.1 (19-7) against nonconference opponents. As mentioned in today's video, the ACC is 5-5 against its BCS opponents, and the breakdown looks like this:

1-0 vs. SEC

1-2 vs. Big East

2-1 vs. Big Ten

1-1 vs. Big 12

0-1 vs. Pac-12

This past weekend, the ACC defeated two ranked BCS opponents, as Clemson beat No. 21 Auburn, 38-24, at Death Valley and Miami upset No. 17 Ohio State, 24-6, at Sun Life Stadium in Miami Gardens. The upsets tied an all-time high by the ACC set eight times previously, the most recent coming on Sept. 27, 2009 when Florida State defeated No. 22 Alabama, and Maryland beat No. 10 Rutgers.

Those two wins this past weekend gave the ACC some respect in the latest Conference Power Rankings from ESPN's Stats & Info crew, but the conference is still trailing the big four BCS conferences.
