UVa No. 24 in Associated Press poll

That was fast.

Just how fast?

Virginia coach Mike London and the Hoos cracked the top 25 of the Associated Press poll faster than George Welsh and Al Groh, according to the Charlottesville Daily Progress.

The BCS standings determine the national championship game, but the Associated Press poll is part of the equation, and this week, Virginia has cracked the top 25 in the AP poll for the first time since 2007. The Hoos checked in at No. 24, one spot ahead of Georgia Tech.

Not coincidentally, 2007 was also the last time the game against Virginia Tech held ACC title implications.

Not bad for a team that was predicted by the media to finish fifth in the Coastal Division race this year. Not only is UVa ahead of schedule in the second season under London, it's ahead of Georgia Tech in the Top 25.
