Virginia is looking to cap off its most successful season since 2007 with a win over Auburn on Saturday night in the Chick-fil-A Bowl. Here is a quick preview of the game:

WHO TO WATCH: Running back Perry Jones. He is one of only three FBS players this season and one of five ACC performers in the past dozen years to rush for 800 or more yards and have 400 or more yards in receptions. Jones enters the bowl game with 883 rushing yards and needs 117 more to become the first Cavalier since Alvin Pearman (1,037) in 2004 to rush for at least 1,000 yards in a season. He would become only the second Cavalier to reach that milestone in a season in the past 11 years.

WHAT TO WATCH: Virginia’s red zone defense. Virginia is tied for sixth nationally in red zone defense, having allowed 31 scores (21 touchdowns, 10 field goals) in 44 trips inside the 20-yard line. Auburn has scored touchdowns on 19 of 31 red zone opportunities (61.2 percent).

WHY TO WATCH: It’s Virginia’s first appearance in a bowl game since 2007, and the Cavaliers have the ACC’s 2011 Coach of the Year in Mike London. The Hoos shocked many ACC fans by coming within one win of playing for the ACC title in London’s second season, but Virginia was dominated at home, 38-0, by rival Virginia Tech in the regular season finale. The program appears to be ahead of schedule, as it was picked to finish fifth in the Coastal Division this year and now has a chance to beat Auburn in one of the ACC’s more prestigious bowl tie-ins.

PREDICTION: Virginia 24, Auburn 21: The Tigers lost both coordinators in a span of a week, and leading rusher Michael Dyer has been suspended for the bowl game for a violation of team rules. Without those three components, Virginia has an edge. Plus, Auburn is a shadow of its 2010 national championship team, while Virginia has made a dramatic turnaround this year. Statistically, Auburn has one of the worst offenses in the country, and the defense has been at the bottom of the SEC.
