Hokies pick up recruit No. 3 for 2013 class

Safety Anthony Shegog of North Stafford (Va.) High committed Tuesday to Virginia Tech, according to the Washington Post, 247Sports and Rivals.

The 6-foot-2, 195-pound Shegog is the Hokies' third recruit for the 2013 class.

247Sports has Shegog as the No. 25 player in the state of Virginia, and Rivals has him at No. 28.

"(Shegog) informed me this morning he has decided to verbally commit to Virginia Tech," North Stafford head coach Joe Mangano said, according to 247Sports. "Anthony currently holds offers from Virgina, West Virginia and ECU as well. Other schools were coming on as well. It was really picking up. Anthony visited VA Tech for their junior day in February. He and his family were really impressed with the school, facilities and especially the coaches. Coach Beamer offered him a scholarship at the junior day. Virginia Tech was the first school to offer Anthony. They are recruiting him as a safety in their defense."

Shegog joins Cequan Jefferson and Holland Fisher as the Hokies' commitments so far.
