Elder stretching the term 'athlete'

April, 6, 2012
Cornelius Elder (Nashville, Tenn./Ensworth) is an athlete. Unlike most football players given that label, Elder does not know which sport he will play at the next level, let alone which position.

Basketball is Elder's first love, but a number of ACC, Big East and SEC programs have been offering him scholarships to play on the gridiron.

And yes, he is an "athlete" in the football sense, too, as programs see him as a slot receiver and as a cornerback.

"When I get the ball in the open field, I know I can create and get the crowd going and get my team going," he said. "On defense, I can do the same thing, so either way."
