Kudos to Virginia Tech for holding on and beating Nebraska, and Florida State is leading BYU 13-0 as I type this. But what will be remembered with as much fervor from this weekend, and possibly talked about even more, is that Maryland lost at home to Middle Tennessee, 32-31, and Virginia allowed Southern Miss to score the last 23 points for the fourth-quarter, 37-34, come-from-behind win.

It was the second straight year Maryland lost to the Blue Raiders. Virginia is now 0-3 heading into their first ACC game, at North Carolina. Yes, Maryland lost 30 seniors, but the Terps' problems run deeper than that. And Virginia coach Al Groh is now hanging on to his job by a thread. Both of these teams relinquished leads, and in the process some of their respect.
