Our "most important game" series continues today. Here’s a look at the Deacs’ most important game of the season:

Wake Forest

Most important game: Oct. 25 vs. Clemson

Why it’s important: Because Wake Forest came within a field goal of beating Clemson last year and playing for the ACC title. If the Deacs can get it together on their offensive line, there’s no reason to doubt their ability to shock Clemson again. This is a rare Thursday night game in Winston-Salem, and Wake Forest has a chance to have one of the ACC’s better records at this point in the season. I don’t see the Deacs winning on the road at Florida State, so they’ll likely start the conference race looking up at the Noles in the standings, but that doesn’t mean Wake Forest won’t still be in the hunt come late October. The first half of the Deacs' schedule is favorable -- they could even be bowl eligible by the time the Clemson game rolls around. If that’s the case, this game could once again have much more meaning than many would expect.
