Welcome back to the ACC’s ultimate road trip. In case you’re just joining us, this series is your ticket to each of the best games in the ACC every week. These are the games that -- if you had the money and the time -- you would want to be at this fall. The season is still a long ways off, but here in the blogosphere, we’re already into Week 7. This is a quiet weekend as far as the conference race goes, as Clemson, NC State, Wake Forest and Georgia Tech all have byes:
Saturday, October 13

Why: Because the rest of the schedule doesn’t have much of a pulse? How about because it’s the NCAA bowl, and these teams have nothing to lose?
UNC knows it has no chance of the postseason, thanks to NCAA sanctions, and Miami will most likely be playing with the NCAA investigation still hanging over its program. Still, it’s a Coastal Division matchup that should be interesting. Last year, Miami earned its first win at UNC in five tries, but almost let a 24-point lead slip away. This year, the Canes will be out of breath after four road trips in the first six weeks. North Carolina will have had plenty of time to adjust to first-year coach Larry Fedora and his system, and Miami’s young players will have matured significantly by now.
In looking at the other options, both Florida State and Virginia Tech should win if they’re as good as many think they are, especially considering they’ll be playing at home. Virginia is a great place to see a game, but save the trip to Charlottesville for Nov. 15. UNC should be a better game.
