Mailblog: Tell me how you really feel about the rankings

Kevin, in Charlotte, writes: Great work Heather covering the ACC this year for ESPN. I hope you enjoy it as it appears it could be your last with your total lack of what is going on in the conference. Your lack of research only makes your ability as a good journalist fall short. I'm a SEC guy, but for your to arrange your power rankings so drasitically after just one week of play, shows that you aren't sure exactly which route the conference will go. Let me guess, you'll have Clemson & VT back at the top after they win 2-3 straight. Enjoy and make the most of this opportunity while it lasts.
Heather Dinich: Um, after one week is anybody sure which route the conference will go? And I'd hardly call dropping Clemson from No. 1 to No. 2 drastic.
Travis Reynolds writes: I know the Hokies played horrible against ECU and it was a very tough loss but your power rankings are a overreaction. A close loss to a solid football team should not make Virginia Tech drop to the bottom half of the power rankings. Why did you put them down so low after one game? Just like every other year we will finish strong with Tyrod and prove why we are great program!
Heather Dinich: Let's see, Glennon threw two interceptions, there was poor tackling, the passing game is limited because of the youth, the offense line is still a work in progress ...
Rod, in D.C., writes: Jeez, Heather. How 'bout some love for BC? They pitch a shutout with no turnovers and no penalties, while MD barely beet Delaware. I'd flip the 5 and 7 slots -- but then again, I'm a BC alum. I agree we'll learn more after GT; the good news for BC is that DCoor Frank Spaziani has seen that offense since Navy used to be on BC's schedule.
Heather Dinich: I picked the Eagles to win this weekend.
Somebody in North Attleboro, Mass. writes: What's up Heather? Why the lack of love for BC. My God, Woman..BC is one of ten teams to be ranked in the Final AP Top 25 every year since 2004. I can only imagine that you have massive love for BC, but for professional reasons you're keeping it on the DL. Either way you'll have no choice to warm to the Eagles soon. Slanche!! I look forward to seeing you in Boston.
Heather Dinich: Sorry, but one win over Kent State isn't exactly reason to cheer. FINAL AP? Maybe. Week 1? Nope.
MadMike from Nole Country writes: If the O-line doesn't want to forget about your blog, is that considered bad? I think a journalist should want to write things that are not forgotten. Take this as a compliment and we all appreciate your motivation. I knew deep down inside that you were a Nole fan and would do all that you could to help motivate a young offenzive line. Keep underestimating all of them, maybe you could introduce yourself to the entire team!
Heather Dinich: Haha, you make some good points. But I think this team has two very good reasons to be motivated other than me -- back-to-back 7-6 seasons.
Jon, from Binghamton, N.Y., writes: Heather, Any chance the mighty resurgent Miami Hurricanes pull off the upset in the swamp this weekend?
Heather Dinich: Slim to none, but I was just down there and left convinced they're taking the right steps to bringing the program back to where it needs to be.
Ryan, in Arlington, Va., writes: Heather, Love the blog. Can you please ask Sean Glennon if he is friends with ECU LB Quentin Cotton? I only ask this because his first pass of 2007 and 2008 has been completed to Mr Cotton. Also, do you think a mediocre (8-4 or 7-5) season will finally get Stynespring the pink slip he needed to be given three years ago? Sincerely, An already frustrated Hokie
Heather Dinich: Thanks, Ryan. As for Bryan Stinespring, Frank Beamer said "you make those evaluations at the end of the year." Not exactly a ringing endorsement.
Evan, in Mechanicsville, Va, writes: If Virginia loses to Richmond next week, will Al Groh be on the hot seat?
Heather Dinich: He certainly won't be getting any love letters from anyone besides Hokies.
Brad, in Fargo, ND, writes: Hey HD, Love the blog, but i need to hear what this smack talk is gon on with Louis Murphy talkin about the U...some info would be awesome...keep up the good work
Heather Dinich: Thanks Brad. Check this out.
