Duke safety Taylor Sowell had surgery to repair a ruptured Achilles tendon in his right leg, and will be out for the season, the school announced on Monday.
Sowell, a 5-10, 210-pound redshirt junior, has played in 11 career games for the Blue Devils, recording six total tackles.
