A miserable day for the ACC just got worse.
The Hokies have now gone 0-for-2 against the Big East with losses to Pitt and on Saturday, 27-24 to Cincinnati. That doesn't bode well for a conference that will expand by two next year thanks to the addition of two Big East teams in Pitt and Syracuse. The ACC is supposed to have the upper hand against the Big East. Virginia Tech is supposed to be one of the best teams the ACC has to offer -- the Coastal Division favorite.
Virginia Tech had three turnovers and couldn't stop Cincinnati when it needed to most late in the fourth quarter. On a stunning play with 13 seconds left, Legaux threw a 39-yard touchdown pass to Damon Julian on third down for what would be the game-winner. The Hokies were outgained, outenthused, and had eight penalties.
Virginia Tech will play three of its next four games on the road before hosting Florida State on a Thursday night. At this rate, the Hokies need to worry about UNC and Duke first.
