We are at the midway point of the season, so it is time to take a quick look at the bowl chances for every team in the ACC. Here is a breakdown of the Atlantic Division:

Team: Maryland

Wins needed to go bowling: three.

Games remaining: at Virginia; NC State; at Boston College; Georgia Tech; at Clemson; Florida State; at North Carolina.

Projected path: Maryland has one of the better defenses in the ACC, so that group should keep the Terps in most every game the rest of the way. The big question is whether their offense can keep up with some of the heavy hitters remaining on the schedule. Maryland will end up being very close to bowl eligibility. Virginia and Boston College are winnable games; out of the remaining four, can Maryland eek out a win? Perhaps against a reeling Georgia Tech team. That one could end up being a huge key down the stretch.

Team: Clemson

Wins needed to go bowling: one

Games remaining: Virginia Tech; at Wake Forest; at Duke; Maryland; NC State; South Carolina.

Projected path: The Tigers are off this week, but are a lock at becoming bowl eligible. Two bigger questions remain: 1. Can they sneak into the ACC championship game? They need to win out and have FSU lose. 2. If they miss the title game, will they be able to win out and secure an at-large BCS berth? South Carolina will have something to say about that to close the season.

Team: Florida State

Wins needed to go bowling: two.

Games remaining: Boston College; at Miami; Duke; at Virginia Tech; at Maryland; Florida.

Projected path: The Noles are also a lock at becoming bowl eligible, but they no longer control their own destiny in the Atlantic. If they win out and NC State loses, then the Seminoles will go to the ACC championship game. Those in-state rivalry games against Miami and Florida loom pretty large the rest of the way.

Team: NC State

Wins needed to go bowling: two.

Games remaining: at Maryland; at North Carolina; Virginia; Wake Forest; at Clemson; Boston College.

Projected path: The Wolfpack should not have a problem becoming bowl eligible. But can they win the Atlantic and play in the ACC championship game? Major tests await this team, with games remaining against the rival Tar Heels and Clemson. Maryland won't be an easy out, either. The last time NC State played the Terps in College Park in 2010, Maryland pulled the upset and denied NC State a spot in the ACC title game.

Team: Wake Forest

Wins needed to go bowling: three.

Games remaining: at Virginia; Clemson; Boston College; at NC State; at Notre Dame; Vanderbilt.

Projected path: The Deacs appear to be on the bubble in their quest to go to back-to-back bowl games. Virginia and Boston College are winnable games, but they will have to pull an upset in one of the remaining four. That is not out of the realm of possibility, particularly if all their injured starters can return healthy in a few weeks.

Team: Boston College

Wins needed to go bowling: five.

Games remaining: at Florida State; at Georgia Tech; Maryland; at Wake Forest; Notre Dame; Virginia Tech; at NC State.

Projected path: The Eagles must win five of their final seven games to get back to a bowl game. That is going to be a huge challenge for a team whose only win this season has come against FCS Maine.
