Defense? What defense?

Florida State and Georgia Tech traded touchdowns for four quarters, but Yellow Jackets' quarterback Josh Nesbitt looked like he had finally mastered that offense, and there was nothing the Noles could do about it in a 49-44 loss.

It seemed like Florida State only had one way to line up and defend the same formation and same play, which allowed Paul Johnson to do the same thing over and over to the Noles. Mickey Andrews did not make enough adjustments, and Florida State lost its third straight game. Christian Ponder, for the most part, played a great game and the threw five touchdown passes, but he needs more help from his defense. Georgia Tech's wasn't that much better, and its weaknesses in the secondary were exposed, but once again, it was the Noles who gave up too many big plays and they were baffled by the option pitch time and time again.

Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech will now meet next weekend and it's even more interesting as both are coming off key conference wins. Hokies' defensive coordinator Bud Foster told me he'd be watching this game tonight, and odds are he learned a few things not to do.
