Clemson running back C.J. Spiller took off for a 66-yard touchdown run that put the Tigers ahead 24-3 in the waning minutes of the first half. That's the Spiller the preseason hype is always built around, and he told me he wants to showcase his talent as a running back, not just a return guy. Well, he did it on that play, and he's close to a 100-yard performance already. Clemson is completely controlling this game, and it already seems to be out of reach for the Deacs, though they're a team that's known to regroup in the second half, so I'm not counting them out just yet. Their inability to score from the one-yard line, though leaves much to be desired. That being said, Clemson's defense is very, very good.

Still, I thought Riley Skinner would be much more effective, but it all starts up front, and Clemson is better there. The Tigers' defense has held Wake to just 90 yards of total offense. Kyle Parker has completed 70 percent of his passes, and the staff is making great use of tight end Michael Palmer. That's something they hinted they'd do during the bye week. Wake can't get anything resembling a running game going. Clemson seems to have finally put it all together, but that's just another week for you in the Atlantic Division.
