From the release:
Belin, was a three-year starter at linebacker and four-year letterman for the Demon Deacons from 1987-90. The veteran coach comes back to Wake Forest after two years in the NFL with the Carolina Panthers and a combined nine years in the Southeastern Conference at Georgia and Vanderbilt.
Following the departure of secondary coach Tim Duffie to Oklahoma State, Wake Forest coach Jim Grobe shifted outside linebacker coach Derrick Jackson to the secondary. Jackson was a four-year starter at safety while playing at Duke.
In two seasons with the Panthers, Belin tutored a pair of solid linebackers. James Anderson set a team-record with 174 tackles in 2011 and Luke Kuechly finished with 164 tackles and was named the Associated Press NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2012.
Working with the inside linebackers in his only season at Georgia in 2010, Belin mentored linebacker Akeem Dent, who led the team and ranked second in the Southeastern Conference with 126 tackles. Dent, an All-SEC second-team choice, was drafted by the Atlanta Falcons in the third round of the 2011 NFL Draft. Additionally, Belin handled the Bulldogs' kickoff coverage unit, which ranked first in the conference.
Before moving to Georgia, Belin spent eight seasons as linebackers coach at Vanderbilt from 2002-09. In addition, he served as the team's recruiting coordinator during his last two years and special teams coordinator from 2006-07.
