Yes, Florida State fans, it can get worse. And it will. Starting tomorrow night in Chapel Hill. The Noles need to find four more wins in order to get to a bowl game. That means they can only afford two more losses. (P.S. a road trip to Florida is still on the schedule.) The defense is only part of the problem, as controversy continues to swirl behind closed doors about coach Bobby Bowden’s future. There are some things that just can’t be fixed during a bye week, and a lack of leadership and direction are among them. There’s little reason to believe the Seminoles can stop the snowball effect.

Best case scenario: FSU beats UNC, NC State, Wake Forest and Maryland and sends Bobby Bowden out with the bare minimum -- a six-win season.

Worst case scenario: FSU loses at UNC, at Clemson, at Wake Forest (again), and at Florida and finishes with just two conference wins.

Prediction: The Seminoles are home for Christmas, but following the Florida game that news is overshadowed when FSU officials announce the “retirement” of Bowden without noting he had lots of help in making that decision. Jimbo Fisher takes over in December.
