Georgia Tech pulled away from an even first half and rolled over Vandy in the second for the 56-31 win. The Jackets outscored Vanderbilt 23-3 in the second half. Considering USC is in the midst of a loss to Oregon, Georgia Tech made its case tonight for the country's best one-loss team. (Though Oregon and LSU fans are likely to argue.) Even when the Jackets' defense isn't at its best, though, nobody seems to be able to stop Paul Johnson's offense this year. They're executing better, and they're catching defenses snoozing with big plays.

Vanderbilt made plenty of mistakes in this game, including three turnovers, but Georgia Tech in the second half won on its own merit. It was a good nonconference win for the ACC against the SEC (that's two for Georgia Tech), and at this point, expect a third over Georgia. The Jackets have been the most consistent team in the ACC, and with this offense rolling like it is, there's no reason Georgia Tech should lose another game this year. It should be an 11 or 12 win season for Johnson in his second season. Should be.
