No. 16: Anthony Harris, S, Virginia
Previous ranking: NR
Making the case for Harris: Harris was the brightest spot during an otherwise down year for Virginia, looking for much of the season like the best defensive back in the ACC. He led the nation in interceptions, with eight, and ranked third on the Cavaliers in tackles, with 80, including 3.5 for loss. His 6.7 tackles for loss were good for 24th in the ACC. Harris added a sack, a forced fumble and a blocked kick, and his six pass breakups were good for fifth in the conference as well.
The junior from Chesterfield, Va., was named first-team all-ACC by the coaches, media and ESPN.com. In addition, the 6-foot-1, 190-pound Harris also garnered All-America honors from SI.com (first team), Walter Camp (second team) and SB Nation (first team). The Touchdown Club of Richmond also honored Harris as its defensive back of the year.
