Scouting the ACC's bowl gifts

It pays to go to bowl games, really it does.

Street & Smith's Sports Business Journal published its annual bowl gift guide, and on a five-star gift giving scale, here's how the ACC's bowl-bound players made out:

Who doesn't love a shopping spree? Turn Jacory Harris loose and let him pick his own gifts. And Virginia Tech gets the best of both worlds, with a gift certificate and a few other commemorative items and free food. Football players love free food.

Champs Sports Bowl: Party at Best Buy ($420 limit), Timely Watch Co. watch

Chick-fil-A Bowl:$250 Best Buy gift card, Fossil watch, Russell Athletic knit cap, Russell Athletic travel bag, football, Chick-fil-A gift card

UNC gets to do the Richard Petty Driving Experience again. If going over 100 mph on a race track doesn't get you jacked up, nothing will.

Meineke Car Care Bowl: Choice of Bose gift packages or iPod touch, speakers and $20 gift card, Fossil watch, Ogio duffle bag, commemorative Richard Petty Driving Experience photo.

It's not like you'd give any of these freebies back, but BC is making its 11th straight bowl appearance. Odds are the Eagles' upperclassmen have collected a few caps, watches and backpacks by now. And Clemson's consolation prizes for being the ACC's runner-up? Well, the fleece will come in handy. I heard it's supposed to be much colder in Nashville than in Miami.

Emerald Bowl: HP Netbook, Fossil watch, Emerald Bowl cap, Armor gear backpack

Gaylord Hotels Music City Bowl: RCA HD camcorder, Fossil watch, Majestic fleece pullover, New Era hat, Ogio Metro laptop pack

FedEx Orange Bowl: Sony gift suite, Tourneau watch, New Era cap, Ogio Politan laptop pack

It's a good thing Bobby Bowden is the highlight of this package ...

Konica Minolta Gator Bowl: Fossil watch, Oakley Antix sunglasses
