There is still a lot of football left to be played, and plenty of good games between the two divisions (See: Virginia Tech at FSU this weekend). Given the importance of the head-to-head competition, though, let's look at the big games still remaining between the top contenders in the same division. (Sorry, Clemson fans, the Tigers just aren't in the mix at this point, but they could be spoilers for Boston College and Florida State ... oh my, I just realized, no Bowden Bowl this year ...).
Anyway, let's get through October:
NC State at Maryland and Virginia at Georgia Tech could have an impact on the leaderboards this weekend.
Raise your hand if you'd be surprised to see the Terps lose at home to an 0-3 Wolfpack team? Didn't think so. If Maryland wants to be taken seriously as a contender for the Atlantic Division, it simply cannot afford to lose anymore so-called trap games, and this is one of 'em.
In Atlanta, it will be the Yellow Jackets' homecoming and the soaring Cavaliers will have to win for the first time on the road. If Georgia Tech wins, they're bowl-bound.
Here's a quick look at a few of the bigger games in November:
ATLANTIC DIVISION
- Boston College at Florida State on Nov. 15
- Wake Forest at NC State on Nov. 15
- Boston College at Wake Forest on Nov. 22
- Florida State at Maryland on Nov. 22
- Maryland at Boston College on Nov. 29
COASTAL DIVISION
- Miami at Virginia on Nov. 1
- Georgia Tech at North Carolina on Nov. 8
- Virginia Tech at Miami on Nov. 13
- Miami at Georgia Tech on Nov. 20
- Virginia at Virginia Tech Nov. 29
