It's hard to believe Duke has already completed seven of its 15 spring practices, and the Blue Devils showed some progress in Friday's 40-play situational scrimmage.

Duke's defense had six sacks and forced a pair of turnovers, and rookie running back Josh Snead rushed for 116 yards and two touchdowns on just seven carries. One of his runs was for 65 yards.

“There were a lot of great lessons learned today,” coach David Cutcliffe said, according to the team's practice report. “I thought it was everything I like as a head coach. Our defense set the tempo, and the offense fought back. There were some plays made in the red zone, which I’d been wanting to see offensively. I thought our defense kind of surged back for the most part there during third downs, and it’s good to see some young players make plays.”
