Beamer, Harbaugh differ on playoff thoughts
By Heather Dinich
FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- Virginia Tech coach Frank Beamer and Stanford coach Jim Harbaugh were at opposite ends of the playoff discussion when asked about it Sunday morning.
Beamer said he likes the bowls and that the current system "is getting closer to working all the time."
"But as far as I'm concerned, I want to keep it the way it is and keep on working with it and keep on getting it better and make sure we keep our bowls in place," he said. "That's the way I see it."
Harbaugh has a different view.
"I would love to see a playoff system, yeah, an eight-team playoff system," he said. "I think every other sport in the NCAA has it. There's no NCAA sport that doesn't have a playoff system, so why not football?"
