Final: Wake Forest 48, Gardner-Webb 5
By Heather Dinich
Wake Forest did what it was supposed to do in this game and held Gardner-Webb scoreless for three quarters en route to a lopsided 48-5 win. Gardner-Webb had just five first downs, and was held to 22 yards rushing.
The Deacs racked up 454 yards of total offense, and quarterback Tanner Price once again put on a show. He completed 21 of 32 passes for 281 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions. Receiver Danny Dembry had another good game with eight catches for 126 yards.
The Deacs have now won back-to-back games heading into next weekend's road trip to Boston College, and considering the Eagles are off to an 0-3 start and just lost to Duke Saturday, it wouldn't be surprising if Wake Forest matched last season's win total by Oct. 1.
