Halftime: Virginia Tech 14, Duke 7
By Heather Dinich
It should come as no surprise that Duke is hanging around. That's what the Blue Devils do. It seems like they can play for a half with almost anyone (see: Stanford), but sustaining it for four quarters is a different story. A porous defense and lack of a running game might have a little something to do with that.
What's surprising about this game, is just how sloppy it's been on both sides. Costly penalties by Virginia Tech, along with two uncharacteristic interceptions by Logan Thomas have helped keep Duke in this game, and the two teams have combined for five turnovers in the first half.
One difference in the game so far has been Virginia Tech running back David Wilson, who already has 74 rushing yards. Odds are he's not done yet. Duke has a reputation for hanging around, but the Hokies have the reputation for finishing. There's no reason to expect that to change today.
