UNC cautious with QB Renner's status
By ESPN.com staff
North Carolina quarterback Bryn Renner left the NC State game early with "concussion-like symptoms" this past Saturday, and he hasn't returned to practice yet, according to interim coach Everett Withers. Still, it sounds as if Renner should be cleared and ready to play by the Nov. 17 game at Virginia Tech. The Tar Heels have a bye this week.
"Bryn is progressing well," Withers said. "We've not put him out there at practice this week. We want to try to give him some time to fully recover. He was out at practice (Tuesday) throwing the ball around a little bit, but not necessarily practicing. But there's a good chance he can practice tomorrow or Friday. We expect him to be ready to go when we start game preparation."
Renner is No. 2 in the ACC in passing efficiency, and has completed 71.4 percent of his passes for 2,271 yards, 19 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.
