FSU, Miami among nation's best recruiters
By Heather Dinich
Earlier this morning we looked at what Florida State has brought in over the past two recruiting classes and what it can do for the Noles in the future, but this is hardly the first time the program has lured in elite talent. In fact, Florida State and Miami have been two of the nation's best recruiting programs since 2007, according to a joint project between ESPN The Magazine and RecruitingNation. They compiled the last five years (2007-11) of ESPNU 150 rankings and figured out which programs are getting it right. FSU ranked No. 5, Miami ranked No. 9, and Clemson just missed the cut.
Of course, they couldn't do it without some of the nation's top recruiters. FSU defensive line coach Odell Haggins was named the ACC's recruiter of the year by RecruitingNation. Sometimes, though, it's the recruiters who are toughest to recruit. Mitch Sherman of ESPN RecruitingNation had an interesting story about how head-coaching changes and the shuffling of staffs plays into recruiting.
