Terps' QB Perry Hills suffers season-ending injury
By Heather Dinich
What absolutely miserable luck for Maryland's quarterbacks.
First Danny O'Brien transferred. Then C.J. Brown was lost for the season. Now Perry Hills is down and out.
Depth charts usually don't go this deep.
The Terps are down to two eligible quarterbacks -- Caleb Rowe, a true freshman, and Devin Burns, a quarterback-turned receiver-turned quarterback again. When Brown was injured this past summer, Burns volunteered to help out at quarterback. He definitely gets credit for the assist on Saturday in the 20-18 loss to NC State. Burns ran for 50 yards and a touchdown.
He's going to have to run for a lot more if Maryland is going to make it to a bowl.
Somebody on Twitter asked me why Maryland dropped out of this week's bowl projections. It had nothing to do with the NC State loss and everything to do with the Perry Hills loss.
Then again, who would have predicted Hills would have become so valuable as a true freshman?
Rowe and Burns have a chance to do the same.
